The RTI Console uses JBoss ON/RHQ server login credentials to access the server. You must provide that user with enough permissions to perform all the RTI console operations. Elsewhere in this User's Guide, we assume you have full administrator permissions as granted by the default "rhqadmin" user. But it is possible to use the RTI Console with a more restricted set of permissions.
In general, the user must have the following permissions:
  • read-only access to the platform resources where RTI is located (to access the RTI resources on the platforms),
  • read-only access to the JON/RHQ agent on those platforms (for availability checks),
  • read access to the RTI resources: RTI Installation, RTI Collector, RTI Transaction (to get metrics), and
  • read-write access to the RTI resources: RTI Installation, RTI Collector, RTI Transaction (to initiate traces and get data).
These permissions can be granted by defining two groups of resources, two roles, and creating users with the new roles:
The following subsections describe these steps in detail.
